i'm not talking about the real ones...

i'm talking about ones that are on shirts, blogs, scrapbook paper, animated ones,

children's clothes, little wall decals, etc. absolutely.not.
(these make me want to barf)

I just think they look ridiculous and tacky. that is, until i saw this:

you see one time in the summer when i had no real responsibilities, aka school + work, mark and i got a little obsessed with LOST. it started to get a little out of control... i may ~~or may not~~ have been staying up until 4:30am (give or take) and sleeping until noon (give or take). well, this obsession started to make me feel like i did nothing but watch LOST. my back hurt from sitting for so many hours. i was getting practically nothing done. so i stopped. cold turkey. i had watched so many hours but the task of how many more hours i had to watch seemed a bit daunting.

so you guessed it...
i found LOST again. i work so many hours that i don't feel
bad unwinding with jack and co.

but here's my real question...

how did anyone watch this in REAL tv life time?!
every episode leaves you on such a cliff hanger, therefore,
i cannnnnnnnnnot stop watching.
i feel like these people are real.
and i hate michael. HATE.

so is there anyone out there in the blog world reading this who watched LOST who can explain to me how they possibly waited 7 days to see if libby actually comes back to life after michael (ARGH) shot her?! or if henry the creeeeeper starts eating/talking?! i mean geez.

so. the last few weeks have really been spent getting our lives in order after moving from our lovely home that we've lived in for the last 18+ years. i will, at some point during the month, dedicate a blog entry to that lovely place and the people that resided within those walls.

it's 2012!
and i haven't blogged since november 2011.

oopsies!

how will i ever make up for my 2 month absence? i know. an epically long blogpost. you all need to know how incredibly wonderful my life has been the last 2 months, right?! (isn't that why blogging exists, anyway? like, here check out how cool i am!)

so to get on with the show...

1. i have a new nephew! AND he's famous... why? he was born 4.5 weeks early, all lickety split-style in the applebee's parking lot on the way to the hospital! (check out the story here). go little B. i guess he was just too excited to come to earth, he couldn't wait any longer! anyway, he's precious, tiny, lovable and kissable. i just love that little munchkin already.

2. my bff mckell got married! pre-wedding day we had a surprise bachelorette party for her, titled: skank fest 2011. the party was complete with tons of food, ridiculous and ~~not~~ inappropriate games, a loud sweater and dress up photoshoot (my group of friends were made for this kind of crap!), and presents of course!

onto the wedding day... it was lovely, unusually warm for that time of year and she looked phenomenal. really! just absolutely stunning. i feel so blessed to be a part of her and jeremy's special day. also, everyone needs to know that if you're in need of a wedding event planner chad, tyler and i should be opening ourselves a business any day soon. we rocked that reception site!

3. my club exclusive friends had a little christmas party! complete with an intense (understatement) game of scattergories. and just to throw it out there... please give me a shout out if you think Anne Frank is a hero. just wondering. :) also, who knew that "the kool-aid man" would be the most hilarious person to act out in the history of the world (as is indicated below):

4. we had a snow-less christmas. what a dream come true! you guys, really... it was a christmas miracle. but i feel like christmas came and went too quickly. i had a lovely time with family and friends.

5. then.. i went to CALIFORNIA for new years eve. oh man, i love it there. i wish i lived there--like more than i wish i had a husband! not.even.a.joke. a special thanks to april for being the most incredible hostess and craigley for being such an excellent taxi cab driver! they really made our stay perfect. i couldn't have asked for anything more than fun friends and an incredibly gorgeous place to ring in 2012. (get ready for photo overload..)

ladies and gentlemen.... i feel like i got my groove back! i'm not sure i ever lost it but the best way i can explain it is i'm feeling like my old peppy, hyper, silly self again. i mean i don't think i ever stopped being those things, but i think i've been a variation of myself for a few years and finally i'm getting back to a place where there's a nice, comfortable, happy cohesion of all the elements in my life. a synergy, if you will.

there are a lot of things that have given me purpose and meaning, things that i never thought would. here's my little public thank you to these things:

1. getting a full time "big girl" job.

i never knew that after i was done with the most miserable month + of work training that i would actually feel this incredible sense of purpose and importance. i'm really loving my job, the people i work with and hopefully i'm making some difference in the lives of those with whom i get to help. i had no idea that working 40+ hours a week would give me such purpose to get up and start my day and even though i loathe the sound of my alarm every morning at 6:35am, i still know in my mind that i'm getting up to do something worthwhile and important. i believe getting this job and making some incredible friends at work really launched the beginning of me getting my groove back! i'm so, so thankful for that. (also, having money and not being stressed about finances is a total relief.)

2. i went online on ldssingles.com.

i know what you're thinking about online dating and quite frankly i don't care! :) it's actually been working out quite well for me and i'm a huge advocate of it. i'll never discredit online dating again because while i've always had confidence in who i am as a person, it has been validated by countless people taking some interest in wanting to get to know me. i think for some time, even though i still maintained my positive self image, it was a little tainted and jaded by some interesting experiences that happened. i think i forgot what it was like to have someone pursue me out of good intention. online dating has reminded me that i am cool enough to have strangers want to get to know me! like i've said, this has not been the basis for which i've built my self confidence/positive self image but it has definitely helped improve those things. important note: i am cautious with online dating and i have had some hilarious experiences/stories... maybe a future blog post?

3. i've been busy with social events.

whoa. that makes it sound really, really important. while they aren't these huge social engagements, they have still been important to me. it's seems like for the last two weeks i've had something going on every night whether it's hanging with a friend from out of town, going shopping with my bestie for her engagement photos or watching the project runway finale. socially life has been excellent and busy and FUN.

anyway. this really is more of a gratitude post... i'm really thankful for all the things that helped me get my groove back!

i know, i know. most people the the most wonderful time of the year is christmastime. FALSE.

it's fall-time. i absolutely LOVE it, especially in utah. and here's why:

laying in bed in the morning & feeling perfectly contented not to step foot outside of it, because it is the perfect temperature inside your bed. why? because it's a little cold in the house. so a down comforter is the perfect thing to be snuggle up to.
fall fashion. i really shouldn't have to explain this.. but i want to. i love my long jeans (got to pull out a new pair last night, made me so happy!), light sweaters and jackets, cardigans galore, boots over skinny's, scarves, scarves and SCARVES. <----my fave accessory.
crisp evenings. there's a certain smell about it... i don't even know how to explain it, but i feel like if you've lived in utah during the fall, you'll understand. it's the smell of the pollen disappearing from my life ... and my allergies returning to normalcy.
i love seeing the football stadium lights pouring through all the streets of kaysville near davis high school. so many great memories in the fall-time are associated with high school football games. (there should be a moment of silence since i just mentioned sports on my blog...woah.)
the sense of love in the air. i always feel nostalgic and reminiscent of lovers gone by. it seems like i always fall in love in the fall-- which seems fitting, ya know, falling in the fall. (sounds like a song)

i know it seems weird since everything green dies in the fall, but there's always a sense of renewal for me. like i get excited about life again... i don't know why.
speaking of all things green dying, it's strange because so many things dying creates such beauty. i mean sardine canyon on the way to logan? the colorful leaves that make you feel like you're in a painting?! forget about it. you'll never find anything quite as pretty in fall-time utah.
'smores parties in the cold fall evening air. just hanging out by the fire pit in the fall time talkin' with my bff mark are some of my favorite fall time treasures.
halloween. i love this nonsense holiday. dressing up, carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating (with the nephews, of course...), halloween parties,
last but definitely not least: general conference. gotta love some good old inspiration and direction from the leaders of the church-- maybe that's where my sense of renewal comes from. the guidance given always seems to spur some sort of re-committment in my soul.

so there's a long love list dedicated to my one and only love, fall. anything you'd like to add to this list??

i have been looking forward to tonight's premiere television in quite a few weeks.... and especially after these last 2 1/2 hellish weeks of new job training.

i realize these are the only things that a spoiled, american girl would whine about... but, let's face it, it was infuriating and tragic (woah, i realize this is way dramatic). however, good news, by some miracle i was able to catch a bit of Parenthood, which happens to be my most favorite tv series 2nd to just one, Mad Men, or probably tied at least... they're set in totally different era's so i kind of can't compare 'em.

if you talk to anyone in the world most people remember where they were on September 11, 2001. and i am no exception.

i was a junior in high school attending an early morning rehearsal for a musical productions class that i was in. that semester we would be performing west side story and coincidentally, the morning of sept 11 we were learning the song somewhere. if you know the lyrics to this song you would understand how fitting it was on such a tragic day. somehow in my 16 year old mind these tragic events, which i didn't completely understand or comprehend, were made easier to cope with by the lyrics of this song. now anytime i think of this day in history the tune & lyrics to roll through my mind like they did that fateful day. it has, in essence, become an anthem to me of forgiveness, love, compassion and courage.

okay.

so today was day 1 of the big girl job/training.

it was 10 looooong hours (woah).

for those of you who don't know, i accepted a position working for the state at the department of workforce services as an employment counselor. i really thought i knew what my job description was until training today, which it ended up being completely different but better than i had anticipated.

good news, i'm working in the youth sector with 14-21 year olds and i couldn't be more excited about it!

from what i understand about my position is i will be helping low income youth through a program that helps them complete a high school diploma/GED/help get them prepared for trade school/ college/life. (to put it simply) there are also some really awesome benefits for these youth as they successfully complete this federal funded program.

i am so tired.

but so excited!

apparently the feeling i had a few weeks ago to stay in utah was confirmed by the number of job opportunities i seem to be receiving.

a few weeks ago i had my first post-graduate interview. it was for a position working for the state of utah as an employment counselor, meaning i'll basically help people find jobs, prepare to have good interviews, help them build resumes, etc. it felt a little strange to be interviewing for a job that i was to help people learn how to interview... talk about pressure.

well, this last monday i got a phone call and offered that position! i was elated. i did however, ask her a few questions and asked if i could have a day to think about it (aka i had another job interview the next dat at 1:30 so i wanted to go to that first..) she said that was fine and asked if i could call before noon. WHAT?! NOOOOOON??? how was i supposed to feel comfortable accepting a job and then going to a different interview. well, turns out i decided that would be the best idea, so i called her back, and accepted the position...

fast forward a few hours: phone call and an interview from another job i applied to

what the?

so this week i accepted a job and then had 3 more job interviews with one more happening on monday. so i'm waiting to hear back from the other interviews and somewhere deep inside me wants to be rejected by all the rest so i don't have to make this decision of which job to take... i feel so blessed.

AND.
i'm so glad this thing that took me a million years to receive has paid off.

two posts in 1 week? this is unheard of from me.

lot's of good conversations lately have spurred these thoughts within me, i guess. it's really my only explanation for this bunch of nonsense.

lately i've been thinking a lot about how strange a feeling it is to be a 26 year old, returned missionary, with a bachelor's degree, with no job (as of yet.. *fingers crossed*) and as single as they come.

i feel that at this age i've become used to the idea that i may be alone for the rest of my life (OR maybe not, i'm really not trying to be dramatic.) but i find it hard to imagine that with as long as i've lived a solo lifestyle that someone will want and/or accept me with all of my weird facet's. that someone will actually genuinely adore the things about me that make me, me.

i also feel like this daunting thought has been ~~a source~~ the source of what feels like an ulcer growing in my belly. along with the maybe ulcer i feel a plethora of emotions including: sadness, anger, and frustration. it is hard to not get what you personally feel is right for you. that in your mind you have painted this picture of who you're supposed to be... and i'm not talking about a picture representing others' expectations, i mean my.own.expectations. that's a really weird and uncomfortable position to be in. one that causes me a lot of heart ache. i remember a few years ago when i said "i will not be a girl who requires a man to get by"... oh how i'm eating those words currently. i don't say that because i need a man to get by... but, coming from a place of righteous desire, i technically do... "And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone..." (Gen. 2:18)

i want no one to mistake this post as a lonely lament or a cry for help, i am, to be quite honest, a very, very happy person. just on occasion expressing these thoughts in my head actually make me feel better.

generally i like to keep it pretty neutral on my blog. i don't really share too much of the inner workings of my soul, however...

today i re-discoverd some one of my favorite musicians from years ago. artist's name: missy higgins. her purpose: tug away at my heart strings.

she has this song called the special two that will simultaneously make you want to go on a determined rampage to find your special person and jump off a bridge into a river full of human-eating sharks... or something like that.

one of my favorite lines in it is this:

When you're young you have this image of your life: That you'll be scrupulous and one day even make a wife.

1st off. scrupulous? what the?? who even uses that in a sentence let alone in a song? missy higgins, that's who. (for those of you who need a definition. scrupulous: 1. Diligent, thorough, and extremely attentive to details. 2. Very concerned to avoid doing wrong.)

2nd. how can someone so delicately articulate the very stirrings of my heart? particularly in a way that again i say, crushes my soul and then makes me want to find the man of my dreams? i.don't.get.it.

that song, i suppose, just reminded me today of this strong desire that i have within myself to a) be a wife b) be a mother and c) understand the purposes of God's timing and remember sometimes that image you had of your life when you were younger isn't always what it's cracked up to be... that maybe someday, somewhere, and with someone it'll be better than what you even imagined. and to be perfectly honest, it's the waiting for that better-than-you-imagined-moment that's the hardest. but i'm certain it will come.

ALSO. then there's this thought that i don't even know if i can compose into words.. maybe it's more of a feeling, therefore, it's hard for me to put it into words.
you know the feeling you get when you feel like you've totally ruined/destroyed something and your not sure how, or why, or even when...
that's the feeling i keep having. and then the inner conflict that i keep having is: did i do the right thing? did i ruin something that was so great because i wanted it to be something different and/or better? whoa. i just don't know the answer to those questions.

so far this summer i have blogged 0%. maybe that's because i've been partying just a 'lil too much... but honestly, can you ever party or travel too much?

when you're single without a family your own i say no way, jose! SO here's what has be occupying my time...

there has been lots more + fun vacations, great conversations, and some major disappointments and frustrations as well. specifically with losing jobs, not getting jobs, searching FOR a job (ugh.) as well as the moving to arizona bit which has currently been put on hold until my loving Heavenly Papa gives me the go ahead.

i thought in May time that this summer would be "the summer of dreams part 2" when it really ended up being "summer of create different dreams" than you originally had planned. it has not at all been what i had imagined in my mind it was going to be. BUT it has, i suppose, just what i needed. and with that said, i say...

my friend put this on facebook and so i thought, what the heck let's put it on my blog.
so here it is...
30 random things about me. i'm sure you're all dying to know!

i hate being chased, especially up the stairs, it freaks me out!
if i don't put it in my phone calendar it just as soon not exist. (i blame the mission for making me a crazy-need-my-calendar-kinda-gal)
i don't like bubble baths or jacuzzi's, at all. but i forget this until i'm usually sitting in one
i love singing show tunes in the shower, car and anywhere really
sometimes i record myself singing these said show tunes on garage band using karaoke songs from youtube, only to delete them after!
i just learned how to use sykpe and it took some serious coaching
it bugs me that i grew up using a PC so i don't know how to work a mac very well at all
i graduate in 23 days!! which means i'll be the first girl on both sides of my extended family to graduate from a university!

i am in love with my new laila bedspread from anthropologie + pier 1 pillows.
i have never seen an R rated move in my 25 years of life, ever.
there have been only 2 times in my whole college career that i've felt truly accomplished (about school things)
when people let their children run all over stores it makes me never want to have kids
in high school i was voted flat out funniest senior girl
i love music that i can relate too- it seems every favorite song of mine has a person attached to it
my family is sort of like the von trapp's minus mean daddy. my dad's nice. but we do like to sing everywhere we go/all the time

i love, love, loved my mission. (though that's not really random or unknown to everyone who knows me)
i don't like twilight, even though it was my favorite movie right when i got back from the mish- i'll credit that to not seeing a movie for 1 1/2 years. the blinders came off and i soon realized my stupidity.
i don't shave my armpits hardly at all, mostly if i have to. i get the worst razor burn in the history of time (sorry too personal? oopsies!)
i seem to be 'grace' to a lot of 'will'(s) in my life... sometimes it get's old
if i'm at home you can most likely guess i'm in my paisley pj bottoms

i am sooooo excited to move to arizona!!
i love brushing my teeth, flossing & going to the dentist
i come across super independent, but secretly can't wait to have someone whom i can depend on forever

if you know me, you'll know that i have quite possibly the weakest ankles ever in the history of time... let me give you a run down of my ankle-catastrophes.

broke my right ankle in the 5th grade...

playing four square. you heard it. FOUR SQUARE. i jumped back into line after getting kicked out of the king position only to land on the side of my ankle *POP* broken. this was the downfall of my tragic ankle history

broke my left ankle in the 7th grade...

making fun of others while i tried out for cheerleading. (oops, karma.)

sprained my left ankle in 11th grade...

jumping off the stage during the middle of a dance number during west side story, a musical i was in. (seriously. got back on stage and performed)

sprained my right ankle in 2000-something...

walking to institute on uneven grass and rolled partially down a hill/crawled into class to get help, yikes! (karma? what the?! i was doing something good)

me trotting around san fran in a walking cast boo!

sprained my left ankle in 2007...

playing basketball in the MTC a week before i was leaving. the dr. tried to scare me "sister craghead, they don't let missionaries out into the field with feet/leg injuries" blah. he also offered me crutches (really?! if you've been to the mtc you know it's packed like crazy and you walk everywhere there was not a chance i was hobbling around in crutches) so they made me do physical therapy for a week and then i was decent (but it did mean no dominating the elders in four square for me last week in the mtc! ugh.. also, there's a 4 square theme here.) k the one cool thing to this was the fridge we got in our room to stash ice for my swollen ankle/food we'd slyly take out of the cafeteria (a no, no! oopsies..)

ice and hymn books to elevate it. 

i also (modestly) rode around walmart to
do our pday shopping in a motorized wheel chair!

sprained my right ankle 2 weeks ago

walking in my friends kitchen. yeah, you heard me. caught the side of the rug, rolled the ankle, threw my laptop and beverage. what caught my fall? my right arm on a crown molded window frame. (that hurt worse!) i was bruised all the down to my elbow!

sprained my right ankle last night...

walking again! on a rug. 'cept this time my ankle sort of locked on me, dropping me to the ground in my front room and *not* saying a swear word in front of my ward neighbor as i fell to the ground.

my current status. ugh!

 okay folks. that is all (for now, i'm sure!)

but seriously... this is a common occurence in my life and i'm done! no more. PLEASE. k bye.

i've spent spring break doing this again which is not what i wanted to be doing.

i rarely use my blog to rant and rave about things... but i'm seriously mortified by a little show called:

glee.

i don't watch this show. (shockingly to many.. cuz i love me some music!) but tonight i noticed in the info that this particular episode was a about sex education in schools. so it peaked my interest seeing as last week i gave a presentation in a class about human sexuality and a big part of that was on sexuality education in schools and the media's influence on teens and sexual ideas/behaviors, etc.

so i had to see what glee was going to say about this, seeing as their target audience is teen's. to say the least i was

mortified.
horrified.
distraught.
livid.
frustrated.
and sad.

mostly because i'm terrified for the youth of this generation. and the things they have to be subjected to.

my parents came home and i literally burst into tears as i described my frustrations. (if you know me, i'm not really a crier.. i have no idea where this came from) but i feel like i HAVE to do something about this.

i do not judge you if you watch this show, not at all. it's absolutely your personal choice... but i'm scared that this show, which caters to teens, is corrupting and polluting young minds.

ugh. this is all.

4 a.m. texting isn't really a good idea... but i tend to have pretty hilarious convo's while i'm in the i'm-almost-asleep-but-not-quite-there moments.

last night i'd just got off the phone at 4 a.m. with my friend craig and i was ex.hausted. i'm pretty sure craig is a nocturnal species. like maybe a bat? or something because the kid seriously doesn't sleep at night (or maybe he just sleeps until 3 pm? i'm not quite sure, ha!) anyway... here's what happens at 4 a.m. when craig likes to pester me in my dream land:

c: asleep yet?
e: annual? ga hmmmmmmmmmmm donahue
c: what the eff?
e: almost there as is evident by my previous message (i was referring to his asleep yet message/why i made no sense)
c: you're freaking me out.
e: why? u know what ur freaking me out cuz your texting me at 4 am expecting me to be coherent?!
c: hahaha. this is hilarious. go to bed!
e: i am there already. bye.

i kinda sound ticked at the end, which i'm sure i was. but i really didn't remember any of that happening until i saw it tonight. ha! love me and my crazy, sleepy, dreamy land. anyway!

as my title says: love is in the air, well not for me, but for others.

so let's talk about valentines day.

i don't mind it. i'm not one of those anti-lovers-make-you-want-to-barf-with-their-incessant-pda kind of girls... but i've never really had a love to call my own on valentines day so i end up sitting at home watching apollo ohno speed skate while everyone else goes out and spends time loving away... i'd much rather be off on a luxurious vacation with my mysterious european lover, or something, just sayin'.

anyway. how about mark and i made some loverly cards the other day for people that we love, and that was tons and tons of fun...

and i was reminded of one of my favorite love quotes:

i've never been one to have such horrrrrrrrrrrrrrible luck.

yesterday was quite possibly the most un-lucky day of my human existance. may i expand.

1: have you ever seen bambi? have you ever seen bambi on ice?
here's a little refresher:

yesterday morning this was me. except you need to add some super cute new boots, a scarf, coat, and dress to bambi. then that would be me. i biffed it SO hard on my driveway... it was not funny when it happened, but is hysterical now.

2: on the way to dinner with a group of friends to red robin* (don't ever go there again!) i hit a pot hole. BOOM. tire flat. thanks to daddy who came to my rescue.

3: red robin FAILED. horribly, in fact. food = gross, service = crapppppppy, fry sauce = spilled all over mine and jack's coats via some random server. awesome.

anyway... it was rough. today i continued my streak of un-luck-i-ness.

i woke up with pink eye. yep, you heard me. PINK EYE. ugh. also to add to my gross-ness.. i have a sinus infection.

actually at the rodeo this summer. but i'm feeling like this.

however, there has to be a pro to all this madness... while i actually would rather be at work than sitting at home in my flannel pj's all day, i did get to sleep a lot and i watched half of season 1 to modern family. which is my fave.

kaleidoscope heart

weds. i went to the
sara {b}areilles concert.
and it was absolutely spectacular.
i love her musica. it speaks volumes to my soul.

her latest album, entitled kaleidoscope heart, is lovely.
at her concert she described why the title kaleidoscope heart is significant.

i'll do my best at describing what she said about it.

she talked about how the pieces in a kaleidoscope are a jumbled, mis-match of random colorful odd shapes that when put in a kaleidoscope somehow they create something beautiful... that the kaleidoscope makes sense of it all. and that our hearts seem to be like this. all though our heart may be a broken mixture of jagged, random pieces-- it's still beautiful.

i feel like this describes my heart.

and maybe your's too? anyway. i love that.

now please enjoy this song. it's one of my faves. i fell in love with it summer-time 2009. after my heart looked very much like the components of the inside of a kaleidoscope. enjoy!

we spent our september excursion to d.land with our friends laura and derek playing this game. i love it. i believe one of the rules is: you can't be offended by who your character is. and believe you me, i have plenty of reason to be offended, but i think my character is hilar:

for 12 hours a week i'm a student.
and
for 31 hours a week i'm a bank teller.
and
for the rest of the hours in my week i'm whatever i want to be. which includes, but isn't limited to, friend, daughter, sister, etc.

today at work i was bored to tears (hence the title of this blog)

look how much fun it is being a teller! it looks like he's in prison.

so in all my boredom i created the averages of my life at the bank.

here goes:
in the morning time (t/th) i work up front for 3 hours.

for 2 hrs and 32 mins. of that time i did nothing. meaning: i had nothing to do, no one to help, ~~bored to tears.~~ grateful.
this means on average i help someone every 13.8 min.

in the afternoon time (everyday) i'm in the drive-thru for 6 hrs

4 hrs and 8 mins of that time i did nothing. meaning, again: i had nothing to do, no one to help. ~~bored to tears~~ grateful.
this means on average i help someone every 22.5 min (ugh)

in the evening time (everyday) i'm in the drive-thru for 1 hr

57 mins of that time i did nothing. meaning, again: i had nothing to do, no one to help. ~~bored to tears~~ grateful.
this means on average i helped someone every 15 min

so overall super productive. i spent 5 hrs 37 mins. getting paid to sit. there. wowsers

but i guess the point is this: so many people right now don't have jobs .. so i'm grateful i have a job. (even if i'm forcing myself to be that way.)

this year's halloween festivities were fantastic! i dressed up in 3 different costumes for 3 different occasions and it was fab!

my friend robyn had a delightful halloween party and joe and i went as...

it seriously was TONS of fun. lot's of spanish translating and talking in a cartoon voice. we also carved ourselves a little outcast named...

Quasimodo.

so. much. fun.

then for work the friday before halloween we had to dress up as construction workers. our whole entire building is SURROUNDED by construction and has been ever since i've worked there (since may) so basically we dressed like what we've seen for the last 6 months. (or more)

um.. we thought this was funny? :)

halloween night brought tons of fun-- no costumes, but fondue, friends, and food! but before that we went out with lance and grant trick-or-treating. they had an entourage of 12 adults to 2 children. but they were cute. AND because we were outside we got to witness the most spectacular orange/halloweenish/autumn-like sunset in the history of the world:

THEN last night we went to my grandma's for our annual family halloween costume party. there were some fun costumes, like these:

it seems like a plethora of thoughts enter my head right as it hits the pillow at night. thoughts of the most ridiculous of all ridiculousness, to the serious beyond all seriousness.

so here i am.

i went to bed at approx 11:00 pm.
hmmmm... what's wrong here?

I'M STILL AWAKE.

so i figure i'll make some use out of these hours i lie in bed. (i know, i know, i probably shouldn't blog at night, laying in my bed... but once you've layed for 2 hours sleepless -- it's time to move on to another project.)

lately, i have to say, i've been very un-me. perhaps just a little more reflective, inwardly, if you will. i've been thinking a lot about my life events, politics, current events, counsel from living Prophets, etc. and i can't seem to shake them from my very core, specifically the latter.

i feel like we're living in a world full of chaos, commotion, clutter and crazies (wow...aliteration much?) recently i have felt the pressures of living in this day and age and it has been wearing on my little soul. but i am grateful (understatement) for my knowledge of what is right and wrong. i am trying to, in this post, be very fragile not to offend or annoy any of my 3 or so readers... but i guess if they're reading this by choice you can stop now if you don't want to hear my thoughts on fence sitting:

i am continuously shocked by the amount of people who attempt at doing what the lovely asian man is doing above (thank you sir for posing in this picture to illustrate my thoughts) it would be absolutely impossible for this man to stay like this forever or if i may say eternity without falling to one side or the other. look how tiny that chain link is holding him up, how quick we are to believe that this is a good place for us to rest while we take a load off, or worse, decide which side we're going to be on. i believe with all of my heart that i have to make the choice (and this is seems to be even more apparent to me as of recent) of who's side am i going to be on. and it's easy enough for me. God require's a strong people and i HAVE to be one of them. i can no longer sit and enjoy a painful and uncomfortable "rest" on that tiny chain link fence.

Anyway. these are the sincere rambling's of my 1:40 am heart.

i have been a little bit busy.
however, i must blog about a few of my happenings from

the summer of dreams.

which let's get real... i really was living in a dream world. a delightful, spectacular, unbelievable dream world.

a world which has since been shattered by a sad reality. school. work. parking passes. homework. *sigh*

SO onto the update. WARNING: there are TONS of photos!

my baby sista got married june 18th in the bountiful temple! it was a lovely day... and naturally me and my friends made it a chance for a photo op. i don't have any photos of the reception on my comptuer, but it was a serious fiesta! photo booth, chips and salsa bar, tres leches cake, and a dance floor. it was fab.

for my 25th (woot!) bday i decided to celebrate in be-a-u-tiful Puerto Vallarta, MEXICO! (arrriba!) i went with two of my compañeras from the mish and met up with my friend joe who was interning at the marriot there. we went to tons of beaches, ate churros and had mexican coke whenever we wanted, swam with and kissed dolphins, went zip lining, clubbing, karaoke-ing (totally not a word), and did TONS of shopping. it was an absolute delight.

also. i got to accompany my friend craig on a voyage to CALI. he's from the northern part but we stayed with some friends in the LA area. we went to the beach, DISNEYLAND, the 500 days of summer bench, pink berry (yummmmm) and lots more. it was wonderful! and i finally got to go to disneyland with BRANDT. a dream 10 years in the making.

and just as a side note: a couple weeks ago i went BACK to cali to spend some much needed time with my bff from the mission, Laura, and her hubbers Derek (also from my mission). craigers also drove down from norther cali. we went to disneyland *permanent grin*, shopped, rode beach cruiser bikes in newport beach and stayed at laura's g-parents beach house. i also spent sometime with brandt, liz and some of brandt's other friends in a little excursion to santa barbara; which included thrift shopping, eating, and running 12 blocks to get to the car to make it to costco before it closed. FANTASTIC. too bad we bought a tv too big to fit in ryan's trunk. it was hilarious. you'll see the pic's of how we drove home.

anyway. life. is. good. i'm super, super busy, happy and loving all the craziness. FaREwell... it could be 2 more months before i blog. :)

go on some other i'm graduating from college-FANTASTIC vacation (italy? hawaii? side note: for all of you wondering how i can go on all these vacations remember i don't have a spouse or children. and the gov't pays for my school AND i have a job *smiley face*) ALSO...
get a real job and become a real, functioning adult.

PLEASE someone tell me i'm not alone in my habitual (i love that word) procrastination. i say in my title above "procrastinating procrastination" because in my mind there is already a list of items on my to-do list which i KNOW of, which i'm purposely put off... which i'm now just procrastinating x 2. i hope that makes sense. whatev's.

here's the list of things to do in the next 2 weeks that i have procrastinated:

anything related to looking stunning in my bridesmaids dress for kelsie's wedding aka exercise everyday. (blah)

writing an 8 page book review-ish for the afformentioned book.. due: weds @ 10am

~~putting together some more things for kelsie's bridal shower this saturday~~
starting a 15 page paper due june 16th (and as you should know the last paper i did that was this length only took me geez... about 30+ hours. yikes.)

i couldn't sleep tonight.

in my thoughts/prayers tonight i was mindful of my little sister who is going to the Temple tomorrow for the first time to participate in sacred ordinances that will change her life, this all being done in preparation of something greater to come aka her upcoming sealing/marriage on june 18th in the Bountiful Temple.

so tonight,

my homage is not only to my sisters but to all of the "sisters" i've had through the years.

not only was i feeling pensive tonight but a bit nostalgic as well remembering all of the sisters i've had through the years. i have had so many wonderful, amazing, caring and loving friends who at times in my life were as sisters are; silly, happy, giggly, friendly, that shoulder to cry on, the person to laugh with, sing with, play with, double date with, gossip with, drink diet coke with, travel with, and work with and someone with whom to do all those things smiling along the way.

my homage to my sisters from high school:

there were really 7 of us who hung out incessantly... i still see most of them on a frequent basis (those who live in this state!) and i have fond, fond memories of these years, with these sisters, who supported me as i served a mission and they all had cuddly babies! (sending all of my dearest nieces/nephews love from aunty crack)

we nicknamed ourselves 'the sisterhood' ... yes after the movie the sisterhood of the traveling pants. when shelley moved to florida we even gave her some jeans. (i know we're cool) these ladies are dear to me as well. we had too many good times together inside and outside of my musical theater life to number. i miss them... a lot.

yeah we're just that cool that our acronym is associated with money.

and why? cuz it's a cash money mission.

(cash money being used as an adjective to describe awesome-ness,

one of which we used frequently in the mish.)

i love that place.

para siempre y siempre.

first things first. i realize i am beyond blessed to be so near to my mission, i'm sure many of you are not and it's probably heartbreaking, the fact that i can drive there in 13 1/2 hours is such a blessing! not to mention lots cheaper than flying.

i was able to go with two of my past mission companions and it was delightful. i couldn't have asked for better friends. i love them:

SO back to the trip...

day 1 was thursday night.. we drove to blanding, utah... this wasn't photographed because it was a blizzard and i had NO clue where we were going... so i was too scared to think about anything but driving. ALTHOUGH. there is a place called helper, utah. who knew?!

day 2: leave blanding, ut @ 9 am

commute to safford, az. expected time of arrival: 4 pm

here we are on the way:

we went through some crazzzzzzy canyon/indian reservations. we had not a clue where we were.

we finally arrived and i got to spend some time with my friend aaron who i met in the MTC. he is going to school in thatcher and sang in a delightful spring choir thing i attended. this was a fun reunion:

day 3: we drove a golf cart in a Cinco de Mayo parade (yes in a city and state i've never lived in!) and that really was the best day of my life. we won "most spirited" which i love since we're these white girls in a cinco de mayo parade who shouted ¡VIVA MEXICO! every second we could. PLUS we wore sombreros:

next we went to our mission reunion where we met up with lots of old friends. AND both of my mission presidents were there. loved this:

then off to the Temple open house... after many prayers the faithful members of the church in my mission are grateful to have a Temple in the gila valley of arizona! (the only Temple within the boundaries of my mission) which is so exciting. i teared up walking through the open house. it's beautiful and will bless the lives of so many people i love.

days 4-7 were enjoyed in the very first area of my mission. i hadn't been there since dec 2007! so i was ultra excited to be there and see my eternal friends again! also to be able to communicate with people in spanish the way i wanted to was happy. we spent the days eating/making great mexican food, having carne asadas, eating the best pizza in the world, teaching with the missionaries (which, embarrassingly enough, i cried while we were with them because i miss being a missionary), eating los finitos everyday (the best snow cone/slurpee thing ever. i can’t even explain it, you just need to try it yourself!), doing service with the members, bowling with the ysa's, shopping in downtown nogales (right next to the border) and reminiscing about times i had there. it was fantastic. i miss it there. i miss being a missionary. i miss being important to so many people all the time:

i am, however, really honest -- somtimes to my disadvantage.

and perhaps we could add nice to that list... now.

apparently being nice has become a liability for me for various reasons.

i'm not sorry if the person this post is intended for reads this. in fact, i hope they do. since this is the only way i think i can reach you ... you don't talk to me anymore. (i am, however, sorry if this doesn't apply to you and you choose to read it... it's a really long, drawn out message... so stop now if you don't want to read my whining.)

for sooooo many years i thought my best {personality} traits were good enough for you. and even though they were liabilities you aceppted them. maybe even liked them sometimes. i, in return accepted you just the way you were and now that that isn't who you want to be, or you're trying to avoid being that person, so somehow me accepting you and loving for so many years isn't valid anymore. you no longer want my love. or prayers. or friendship. and i have no idea how to get that back. or if at this point i even want that back. i cannot fathom the fact that someone i loved so much could break my heart so much. it makes no sense to me. i honestly cannot wrap my mind around this at all. and you won't give me the time of day to help me understand it. unless it's on facebook chat, i mean really.

you, someone who used to confide in me everything, including issues you were having with me, now resorts to avoiding or ignoring me for weeks instead of talking to me. and then 5 weeks later when you choose to speak to me it's awkward... and i do not like it at all. my question really is: who do you talk to now? and why do i feel like you're getting advice about what to do with me from other people when you know me better than them? and when you used to talk to me about what you should do with me? who are you talking to about issues you're having? about life? about love? about all your hopes and dreams?

ps having said all of this i am in no way begging you to come back into my life again, or to even talk to me. i'm simply just stating how i feel.

yowsers.... this week is crazy busy. and probably because i'm procrastinating again all the things i need to get done i'm blogging. dang. this. blog. or dang my motivation. let's just make a list of the things i have to do this week:

~~i have a test in my family seminar class~~ (tomorrow)
~~another in my research methods class~~ (friday)
another in my family resource management class (friday)
~~another in my adolescent class~~ (friday)

= 4 tests (yikes).

~~i have a huge 5 part assignment due on thurs~~ ... the one thing i didn't procrastinate = i'm already finished. woot!
~~i have an APA citation page i need to correct~~. due tomorrow (done. check)
~~i had to speak at a relief society~~ function tonight on happiness
~~i have to speak in church on sunday on repentance~~
~~sing at a funeral on thursday~~
~~go to the gym~~ (which is my saving grace/stress release this week)
and LUCKILY... i don't have to work. AT. ALL. my boss gave me this crazy week off... thank heaven

so besides procrastinating and whining i truly am grateful that i don't feel too stressed...

yet.

oh and next week is spring break.

what's happened the last few weekends:

the last few weekends have been superb!!! i can't even know how to begin a post about each event that happened so i'll combine them into one. here goes:

2 weekends ago i went tubing up in park city with my friend craig. he's a new.ish friend but feels like an old friend and i love that feeling. that was tons of fun. we stayed up WAY too late watching movies and partied for the weekend.

i got to go on a picnic with my nephews. we fed the ducks, played on the playground and enjoyed the sunlight!! (yum.)

in honor of our love for the olympics my friends and i decided to go 'figure skating'... not just ice skating. we dressed in sparkley outfits that were too flashy for our own good, had our own medals ceremony in the middle of the ice rink, sang the olympic song, ate an olympic cake that i made and gained an even greater love and respect for figure skaters... it's freakin' hard!!!!

i got to go spend saturday volunteering for 'utah give kids a smile' with these lovely people i met at efy who have become great friends. i've missed them a lot, and enjoyed an excursion to nordstrom rack with garrett!

also i went to in-n-out!!

AND

i went to the jazz game with my friends from the mission! it was awesome to spend time with these forever friends of mine and to see people i haven't seen in more than a year!!

i love, love, LOVE summer.

i love being tan, wearing flip flops, swimming, boating, eating snow cones, wearing summer dresses, being warm, vacationing, etc. etc.

and for some reason this winter has seemed completely icky, COLD, and un-enjoyable. i mean granted there were moments of loveliness during the winter but spending a 1 1/2 years in the heat of my lovely mission (aka the hottest mission in the world year round) kind of tainted my feelings towards snow & temperatures below 70.

and to prove it take note below:

(i LOVED tracting in this weather... yeah i know i'm crazy!)

yes my arm is as tan as my mexican convert.

(k i might be bragging just a little bit--about the tan arm thing, not the baptism)

anyway.

let me get back to the point of this post:

(which is perf = the beginning of spring break!)

what will happen with this said creation, you ask??

i will create favorite summer activities, yes in the midst of our 40 degree weather, everyday until it IS summer = june 21st! it will be documented and blogged about for our veiwing pleasure AND to help remind us of something we love and look forward to: summer.

since we don't go out a party hardy on sunday v-day has to last not just ONE day but 4 days. (blah.)
i can't have a love fest which would include me baking delicious treats all day (sugar cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, heart shaped pizzas, etc.) and then sharing them with people that i love. --somehow baking is theraputic to me?!

i have to say i completely enjoyed my hour drive home from logan today. why you ask? well i busted out my back to basics playlist on my ipod and smiled/giggled for the next hour.

now you may wonder why the playlist is called back to basics... lets just say these songs in essence are the foundation of my love affair with music. embarrassing? yes! fantastic? absolutely! this playlist includeds songs from various artists such as: bbmak, backstreet boys, 'nysnc, vanessa carlton, evan and jaron, destiny's child, vertical horizon and goo goo dolls.

some of the songs are a lot more legit than others... however it's a fabulous playlist not only becasue it brings me immense joy but a little nostalgia as well!

i realize it's only jan 17th. but wow what a week this has been!!

reasons it's been fabulous:

week two of school = 100% better than week one! i love my classes, i love the feeling of being adjusted to a new schedule and i love the busy feeling again!
i had one, almost two interviews this week. (the other one fell through cuz the lady interviewing me got food poisoning)
i went to provo, which generally makes me want to die a little, BUT i got to spend time with a good friend AND go volunteer at the MTC which means:

I got to speak spanish!
I got to feel missionary-like again
I re-captured my joy and love for missionary work
I realized how far i progressed as a missionary + how much better my spanish skills are now

i went to a free, outdoor, Dashboard Confessionals concert and it was dynamite!! seriously we got pushed to the 2nd row!! it was fab even though i was SO squished to the max. i thought i was going to birth a kidney!

joe and i so squished at dashboard + chris hottie carraba singing with his soul

my bff from the mission, Laura, and another great friend from the mission, Derek, got sealed in the SLC temple yesterday for time and all eternity!! and i got to share a little bit in their special moment. l.o.v.e.d. it!!!!

i made some new, fun, friends and spent the afternoon at the gateway eating at CPK and seeing "lovely bones" (good movie btw)
then i went to Laura and Derek's reception and spent some time with mission buddies! it was so great to see them:

beth and i gave ourselves pedicures last night while watching the holiday... only like my fave movie right now!

good thing beth doesn't color like she paints nails ... not really in the lines, honey!! ;)

-school is fab.u.lous (weird, i know) but i'm loving it!

-this having a personal trainer thing is fantastico! although after i'm done working out i feel a little gumby-ish, not because i'm all the sudden skinny mcskinerson, BUT because i'm wobley like bendable gumpy. . . i hope that makes sense

-Also. Today i just feel great. and it feels wonderful to finally feel great again! i love the liberating feeling that comes from being freed of something that has been driving me crazy. and i'm loving this.

so it's late-ish and i came up to my room at 10:30 to go to bed.

well... after washing my face, brushing my teeth, putting some school stuff together, reading some school stuff, reading my scriptures, i started looking through a drawer full of this's and that's... and it just so happens that i stumbled upon this wonderful gem of a quote that i had written down in 2006. (if i'm not mistaken):

"at the end of the day when it comes down to it all we really want is to be close to somebody. so this thing where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other, it's usually just a load of bull. so we pick and choose who we want to remain close to and once we've chosen those people we tend to stick close by. no matter how much we hurt them [or they hurt us]. the people that are still with you at the end of the day, those are the one's worth keeping. and sure sometimes close can be too close but sometimes that invasion of personal space, it can be exactly what you need"

this transfering schools thing should be interesting. {perhaps} fun {question mark} exciting {hoping so} full of new adventures {we'll see about that}

i'm feeling good about this move already. even though things aren't exactly how i planned in my head. and i am getting really excited it.

so here's to hoping again. (woot!)

i believe there are times when i shouldn't blog...

when i'm sad/angry/upset/depressed/super stressed
when i'm sleepy beyond all sleepiness
when i'm on medication
when i feel like i have nothing nice to say... (like this one time, seriously i do mean one time, that kelsie and i couldn't say anything to each other cuz we had nothing nice to say about the place we were at.... and i usually have lots to say always)
when i feel like what i want to share is too personal for everyone.

currently: i'm feeling a little of numbers 1, 2, and 5.

so i will keep my thoughts to myself; or to the people priveleged enough in my life to know. (ha, what a privelege)

ps. i'm not really a grinch or scrooge... i think i'm excited for christmas.
